News from Adelina Demidova 🧡
Good evening! We were admitted to the hospital on Sunday for our second transplant. We had blood tests, and our platelet count was good (48). We were hooked up to an infusion and began preparation for high-dose chemotherapy. Adelina has been donating blood every day at 6:00 AM. Her blood tests were good, but her platelet count dropped to 23. The doctors said they wouldn't do chemotherapy because her platelet count wasn't good enough, and it was very aggressive. They sent us home. We kept coming to the hospital every day for tests, but her platelet count was low, and Adelina wasn't ready for chemotherapy. Chemotherapy sessions are 21-28 days apart, so a week gave us time to recover. The doctors are pleased with the initial results, as Adelina hasn't complained about her leg pain all week and hasn't taken any painkillers. At home, Adelina recovered and felt great, ate, and started running a little. This morning, Adelina had some tests done, and the transplant doctor came in and explained that we were starting a second transplant with a low platelet count of 28. Adelina hasn't had any platelet transfusions for 10 days, and they're holding steady, so we decided to start chemotherapy. The time between chemotherapy sessions is up. It will be three days of 5-6 hours, then a day off, and the next day, the transplant. The doctors all wished her luck. Adelina's blood pressure dropped and her voice hoarse within a couple of hours.
